My name is Amy I learned to crochet from my grandmother when I was 7 years old. SC, HDC & DC sts. I didn't really get my sea legs for crochet until I was around 16 learning how to do straight rows finally (lol). By then I was selling products in school and teaching people crochet & what I loved about it! They still know how to this day & send me simple reminders.
Crochet and I had an on again off again relationship for many years while I attended and graduated college. I recently started again while pregnant with my only child Alycia (pictured above). I used it as a means of added support in a time of one income; but the truth is it wasn't earning enough.
I started working as a Photographer for a great company with great people, but last year when I wrecked my car I needed something I could do from home.
I have been chasing the dream “do what you love” for 30 years & it’s finally starting to pay off! I wouldn’t be who I am today without crochet, it has shaped me into who I am today.
I am currently the sole proprietor (aka the business owner) of Off the Hook Mamma. This means that I will pay taxes, I am responsible for my own health insurance (yup - NOT covered in Canada), and other expenses. While traditional jobs sometimes supply things like heath coverage I will be held personally accountable for these expenses. Our monthly medical bills are costly, even though they have been subsidized by the Canadian Government.
Please be patient with me; respecting the time & effort that goes into producing and publishing crochet patterns, video + blog content, but know that I am always here for you if you need.
